Nishith Shah

Founder of Thought Labs, NLP Master Trainer, Coach & Mountaineer

Nishith Shah, Founder of Thought Labs and Co-Founder of the NLP Conference India/Global NLP Summit, has been at the forefront of developing the field of NLP for more than 17 years. He has impacted over 5000 individuals across 30+ countries through his unique, experiential NLP programs and transformational retreats held globally.

Much of Nishith’s work is grounded in the art and science of Modelling. Over the years, he has spent extended periods modelling and living with Buddhist monks in the Himalayas and Thailand to cultivate deep presence and unshakable inner calm, with base jumpers in Switzerland to understand how to act powerfully in the face of fear, and with indigenous tribes in Brazil to experience a profound connection with nature and systems thinking. Through these immersive experiences, he has designed powerful learning systems that form the foundation of programs like “NLP at the Himalayas” — an extraordinary and life-altering retreat where participants learn NLP by modelling monks and applying insights in real-time.

In 2008, at the age of 17, he founded Thought Labs with a clear vision: to enable people to live their best lives and fulfill their highest potential. Thought Labs has since grown into a globally respected platform delivering NLP programs in India, the UK, Switzerland, and the UAE. The programs are known for their deep experiential learning approach, where NLP is not just taught as a methodology, but lived as a way of being. Modelling continues to be the core framework through which participants learn and embody NLP in meaningful, real-world contexts.

In 2019, Nishith co-founded the NLP Conference India — the country’s first platform to bring quality NLP Trainers together for learning, impact, and collaboration. The initiative evolved into the Global NLP Summit & Community — the world’s first global platform of its kind, designed to connect, empower, and innovate the future of NLP. Today, the Global NLP Community has over 5000 members from around the world and has hosted some of the most influential NLP leaders from around the world.

Nishith also serves as the International Ambassador for ANLP, playing a key role in expanding access to high-quality NLP learning globally. His commitment to quality, integrity, and innovation continues to shape the direction of the field.

In addition to his work with individuals, Nishith has been transforming organizational culture across industries. He has worked with more than 50 leading organizations including BOSCH, HP, and Wockhardt, supporting them in building high-performing, purpose-driven cultures through courageous leadership and systems thinking.

Nishith is also a professional mountaineer through which he constantly challenges his own boundaries to reach new heights physically, mentally and spiritually.

The Aliveness Structure : Reconnecting With Yourself, Your Energy and the Life You Came Here to Build

There are moments when you are entirely yourself.

You know them when they happen. Time moves differently. Whatever you are doing asks less of you than it should. You say what you actually mean and people listen differently. Your thinking is clear, your body feels light, and there is a sense that this is how living was always meant to feel.

Those moments have one more thing in common, and it is the one nobody talks about. You want to go. Ideas arrive faster than you can write them down. The day ahead looks like something worth getting up for. Work stops feeling like a thing you push and starts feeling like a thing that pulls.

Some people call that flow. Others call it presence, or purpose, or simply a good day. What interests me far more is the structure underneath it. Because those moments are an expression of something continuous — an essential self that was there long before you learned to manage, achieve, please or protect. Curious, generous, trusting, energetic, complete. It has been leaving evidence throughout your life, in your work, your relationships, your best decisions and your most honest conversations.

What deserves attention is how rarely most of us get to live there.

Somewhere along the way we take on other identities. The one who holds everything together. The one who over-prepares. The one who achieves and achieves and feels a strange distance from their own life. Each of these formed at a moment when a value was violated or being fully ourselves felt unsafe, and each is held in place by a belief we have carried so long it now reads as fact.

These identities are skilled. They get things done. And they charge you for it, every single day.

Holding an identity that isn’t yours takes energy. Constant, invisible, unrecoverable energy — spent on monitoring how you are coming across, on anticipating what might go wrong, on being the version of you that feels safest in the room. It is a tax on your aliveness, and most people have been paying it so long they have stopped noticing the deduction. What they notice instead is the flatness. The heaviness around goals that once excited them. Visions that make complete sense on paper and generate nothing in the body. A life that looks, from the outside, like it should feel better than it does.

The energy was never missing. It has been going somewhere else.

Structure determines outcome. Whatever you are living now has a structure producing it, and so does the life you are capable of living. Once the structure becomes visible, it stops running you — and everything it was consuming comes back.

Over these hours together, we go looking for yours.

What emerges will be different for every person, and there is no knowing in advance what will surface for you. What I can say is that people leave this work carrying considerably less than they walked in with, and reaching for far more. The belief loses its grip. The identity built around it has no reason to keep working. And the energy that was funding all of it returns to where it belongs — to your vision, your relationships, your work, the things you actually came here to build.

That is when the goals stop feeling like obligations and start feeling like something you cannot wait to get to. When you find yourself awake at eleven at night thinking about what you’ll start tomorrow. When the morning arrives and there is somewhere in you that is already up.

Three days in Goa follow this session. You’ll want to be fully alive for them. 🙏

What you’ll walk away with:

  • A clear sense of who you are when you are fully alive, drawn from your own experience and expressed in your own words — something you can return to for years
  • Freedom from a belief that has been quietly costing you, released at the level where it was formed rather than managed around
  • Recognition of the identity you step into when you drift, and the ability to catch it the moment it starts, long before it takes the day from you
  • The energy that identity was consuming, returned to you — available for your work, your people and the things you actually want to build
  • A reconnection between you and your vision that lives in the body rather than on paper, so the goals you’re carrying start to pull rather than weigh
  • A newly declared identity you can live from, anchored so you can step into it deliberately rather than hoping for a good day
  • The excitement that comes with all of this — the kind that has you thinking about tomorrow tonight, and awake before the alarm because there is something worth getting up for
  • A way of seeing others at their best, which changes the quality of every conversation you have afterwards, as a coach, a leader, a parent, a friend
  • Momentum for the three days ahead, and for a 2027 you are genuinely impatient to begin

A World That No Longer Needs Us: Modelling Jannie O'Connor On Living With Purpose

In 2005, a woman on holiday in South Goa saw something she could not walk away from.

Janie O’Connor had come from a life in London and Bombay — modelling, then casting for Hindi cinema. She was in Goa for a break. What she found instead were streets and beaches full of animals with nobody to care for them, and an annual cull that dealt with the problem by ending it violently. She has described the choice simply: she came as a tourist and could not leave without doing something.

What she did was turn the front room of her house into a treatment and vaccination centre. She ran it there one year. Dogs, cats, cows, birds, monkeys, leopards — brought in by neighbours, by fishermen, by anyone who had heard there was a woman near Palolem who would help. A team of local doctors gathered around her. Volunteers began arriving. The plan had originally been a six-month sterilisation drive, until she understood that six months would change nothing lasting, and started building a shelter out of an abandoned chicken shack.

By 2012 she had raised enough to move Animal Rescue Centre to its own site outside Canacona, twenty minutes from where we will be sitting on Saturday afternoon. It has been running there ever since.

Twenty-one years. No salary, then or now. A centre that costs more each month than it reliably raises, with the difference frequently covered from her own pocket. Beach dogs fed through every off-season when the tourists and the donations disappear together. Animals arriving continuously, and not one of them turned away.

And a vision, written in her own words, of a world which no longer needs us.

Sit with that for a moment. Twenty-one years of building something whose definition of success is its own disappearance. Whatever is holding that together, it is sturdier than motivation, deeper than compassion, and more interesting than anything you will read in a book about finding your calling.

That is what we are here to find.

Janie will join us in the room, and we’ll model her live. This is old-school NLP modelling — the practice of taking someone who consistently produces an outcome the rest of us find difficult, and uncovering how they do it. Beliefs. Identity. What she pays attention to and what she filters out. What happens inside her on the mornings it feels impossible. How she decides. How she keeps deciding, twenty-one years in.

She has never articulated any of this as a model. Most people who live this way haven’t. It runs below language, which is precisely why it takes a modelling session to bring it into the open, and precisely why it will be as revealing for her as it is for you.

What you take away is her structure, translated into yours. The purpose you carry will look nothing like hers — a business, a body of work, a family, a community, a piece of art, something you have been circling for years without naming. The mechanics underneath transfer completely.

Come curious. This one is a rare privilege. 🙏

What you’ll walk away with

  • An elicited model of how one person sustains purpose over two decades — the beliefs, values and identity that hold it in place, mapped live in front of you
  • A working understanding of NLP modelling as a practice — how to spot someone worth modelling, and how to get underneath what they’ll tell you when you ask
  • The distinction between finding purpose and living it, and why the second one is the actual skill
  • A way of connecting to your own purpose through action rather than through introspection, and the structure that makes it stick
  • What to do when the energy for it runs low — the internal moves that keep someone arriving on the days that offer nothing back
  • Your own purpose examined against a working model, so you leave knowing where yours is solidly built and where it needs something it doesn’t yet have
  • The identity underneath sustained commitment, and what it takes to step into it deliberately
  • Questions you can take into your coaching and leadership immediately — the ones that reach the level where purpose actually lives

Saying Yes To Life: The Whole Of It

What if you have been waiting for life to become something worth committing to?

Most of us live our lives from about three feet outside them. We watch. We assess. We compare. We hold back a portion of ourselves for the moment things feel more certain. And we call it being sensible, which it very much looks like from the inside.

The deal underneath it goes something like this: stay out here and nothing can get to you.

It’s a good deal. It works. That’s the problem.

Because you can have all the practice and all the discipline and still be watching from the sand. You can be the one everyone else leans on and still be half-absent from your own life. You can know exactly what you want and still be waiting for a signal that was never coming.

This session is an exploration of what happens when you stop waiting.

By Sunday you will have discovered who you are when you are fully alive, you will have seen where your energy has been going, and you will have watched a life of purpose taken apart and understood. What remains is the decision, and we make it together.

We work with three things.

Where you have been watching. You find the exact place you stepped outside your own life, and what it has cost you to stay there. Most people can name it within minutes once they know what they are looking for. Nobody un-sees it afterwards.

The capacity you have been careful with. My working presupposition, and one I have never had reason to abandon, is that everything you need is already present in you. You will have felt it operating on your best days. We look for whatever has been holding it in reserve, and you say yes to using the whole of it — the vision you have been describing in the future tense, the difference you came here to make, the person who makes it.

You make peace with what comes attached. Discomfort, because what you’re building lives outside what you can already do. Fear, which shows up on time and doesn’t take instruction. The unknown, which is where everything you want happens to be. And failing, more than once, in front of people. You leave on speaking terms with all of it, so it stops getting a vote on what you attempt.

And you do none of this alone. Everyone in that room will be saying yes to something of their own, at the same moment, which is an unusual thing to be part of and a powerful one. They will know what you have committed to and you will know theirs. Some months from now, when the ground is harder than you expected and the doubt arrives on an ordinary Tuesday afternoon, there are people who will show up for you — because that is what this community has always done, and because you will have shown up for them.

You leave ready. To take bold steps, to speak your truth, to express yourself fully, and to live the vision you have been carrying.

Come and say yes to all of it.

What you take away

  • A clear sight of where you have been standing outside your own life — the moment it happened, the arrangement that has held it in place, and what it has asked of you since
  • The ability to notice yourself stepping back as it occurs, in the ordinary moments where this is decided, rather than recognising it years afterwards
  • The whole of your capacity available to you — the parts you have been holding in reserve, released for what you are actually here to build
  • Your vision spoken aloud in the presence of others, which alters its standing permanently and makes postponement considerably harder
  • A relationship with fear and discomfort in which both are understood as the company that accompanies anything worth doing
  • Failure understood as your teacher, so that the prospect of it stops determining what you are willing to attempt
  • Courage as something you can reach for deliberately rather than something you wait to feel arriving
  • A way of meeting the unknown that rests on trust in yourself rather than on certainty about the road, which is the only version any of us is ever given
  • One genuine yes, spoken aloud, with the first action already taken before you leave Goa
  • A community that shows up for you — people who know precisely what you committed to and who will be there when the ground becomes difficult
  • Momentum into 2027 that comes from living inside your own life rather than observing it
